Risa Rodil is a young, talented letterer – and nerdfighter – from the Philippines. If you’re asking what a nerdfighter is, I’m afraid it is an entirely a different topic outside the bounds of this post, but you can click here if you’re really keen to finding out what it is.
BUT, if you’re wondering what lettering is, it simply is the art of drawing the letters, as opposed to using prefabricated fonts, to convey a particular thought or mood for your message.
And Risa Rodil does this quite awesomely.
The doodle-ly feel about her lines, coupled with her choice of vibrant swatches and geeky innuendos, make her creations a fun and compelling bunch to look at.
Also, in addition to quoting sayings of wise persons in history, she occasionally fangirls and slips in a couple of pop-culture work that resonates with a lot of her fans. She’s very open about these things in her blog, and it’s clear her followers are able to connect with her.
But when it’s down to business, she means business. She is one of the creators in this cool shop called Don’t Forget to Be Awesome, she has also been commissioned to work with the local media in her country, and her works have been shared and featured by popular social media pages such as BeType, The Hunger Games, and even Cara Delevingne.
She only recently created her Facebook fan page earlier this year. So if you find that you enjoy her work as much as I did, please support her by liking her Facebook page here.
Now, for her creations. Enjoy.
